Minutes from the (Vestry) Meeting to Elect Churchwardens for the Parish of North West Swindon and Lydiard Millicent held on Sunday 23rd April 2023

TR welcomed everyone and opened in the prayer

- Election of Churchwardens
Beverley Belcher reported that both John Halstead and Andrew Roberts were willing to continue as Church Wardens for the coming year and asked if there were any other nominations.
John Halstead was nominated by Simon Belcher and seconded by Derek Hill.
Andrew Roberts was nominated by Nicky Iddon and seconded by Bev Kauppinen.
There were no other nominations or objections so both John and Andrew were elected for the coming year

- Minutes of the Meeting of 24th April 2022
Tudor asked the meeting if any corrections were needed. None were raised.
David Tapscott proposed these be accepted as accurate and seconded by Ginnie Heads.
Tudor then signed these.
- Matters Arising
No matters were raised,
- Electoral Roll Numbers
BB reported that one person has joined the electoral since the annual report was written bringing the membership to 91. She then went on to explain that although she could remove people who had sadly died people who no longer attend All Saints cannot be removed from the roll until the next revision in 2025 unless they request to do so.
- Annual Report
Tudor reported that the annual report was encouraging and asked for questions or comments. There were none.
TR then went on to thank the following:
- John Lindsay for taking Communion to people at home. John explained that he had a chat with people before going through the Communion Service with them.
- Sue Jones for her pastoral work visiting people at home. She explained that she plays music and prays with people. It can be challenging but she usually comes away encouraged.
- The Bell Tower for all the bell ringing that is undertaken.
- David Tapscott for the work on the building over many years and for the work he does being our link with Swindon Food collective. David explained that he been involved since 1987 with the building and in later years had been involved with the Food Collective. He is now stepping down but was pleased that others will continue this.
- Ginnie Heads and Anne Dwight for leading worship and choosing the music. Ginnie explained that it is a blessing to choose the music each week and then play. She also explained that she also ensures that the reporting of what has been sung is done.
- Beverley for being PCC secretary and Safe guarding Co-ordinator. She explained that some the work involves reporting things back to the diocese. She also thanked her husband for his support in these roles.
- Tina Wheeler for being treasurer. She said that she enjoys it but it can be challenging.
- Andrew and John for using their different gifts as Church Wardens.
- Nicky Iddon for her work as Communications director for the roof and reordering project and as Eco co-ordinator. Nicky explained that there was a lot of paper work involved and thanked John for installing the new water butt.
- Bev K for the work she does as Children and School’s worker. She said that this was the most amazing God given job and such a blessing.
Tudor also wished to thank
Sally for doing the flowers
Heather Benn for her work organising Open the Book.
Karen for the help she gives him with his admin each week.
These three were not at the meeting and Tudor will contact them afterwards.
- Adoption of Financial Statements
Tina explained that we ended the year in a better position than predicted and that we have been able to commit to paying our parish share in full.
David Tapscott asked if there was a budget. Tina explained that there is and it is based on the previous year’s expenditure and that she reports to the Standing Committee and the PCC every month.
Andrew Bourne proposed we accept the financial statements and this was seconded by David Tapscott.
All agreed.
- Appointment of Independent Examiner
Nikoletta Bates proposed by Andrew Roberts and seconded by David Tapscott as Independent Examiner for the coming year.
This was agreed
- Election of PCC Members
The following were nominated for election to the PCC
Nicky Iddon– proposed by Tina Wheeler and seconded by Beverley Belcher
Heather Benn– proposed by Beverley Belcher and seconded by Simon Belcher
Bev K – proposed by Nicky Iddon and seconded by Tina Wheeler.
BB reported that Nicky Iddon and Heather Benn are willing to be re-elected and that Bev K had been nominated. She then asked the meeting if there were any other nominations and explained that we still have 3 vacancies. There were none so Nicky, Heather and Bev were elected to the PCC for the next 3 years.
- Election of Deanery Synod Representatives
BB explained that we have a vacancy for someone to join Julian Wright at Deanery Synod. Bev K offered to take on this role and there were no objections.
- Endorsement of Sides Persons
They were no other volunteers to add to the sides persons list. Tudor Roberts that the sides persons for all that they do.
The sides persons are:
Andrew Roberts, John Lindsay, Beverley and Simon Belcher, Bev K, Lynda Wright, Derek Hill, Lindsay Shaw, Nicky Iddon, John and Jane Halstead, Jill and Mike Ganley.
- Any Other Business
John Halstead reported that the damp in church is getting worse and that he will be addressing this over the coming months. He is happy to discuss details with anyone.
David Tapscott asked who will be taking on liaising with the Swindon Food Collective now he has stepped down. TR responded that Andrew Roberts supported by Bev K will be taking on this role.
