Intercessions - 6 June 2021

Proper 5; Second Sunday after Pentecost - Rejection

Let us pray for the Church and the world and let us thank God for his goodness and grace.

Sovereign Lord

You know our deeds and shortcomings,

You know that we easily get distracted and fail to put you first in everything we do,

You know that we often fall short,

We do not love our enemies and can be selfish

We live in a broken world and do not respect your creation.

Forgive us and help us to change our practices, to be faithful through all our suffering, to hear what the Spirit says to us, so that we might share in your paradise at the second coming.

Lord in you mercy, Hear our prayer.

Bless all those who lead the Church’s worship and mission today particularly the commitment of your servants Tudor, Tricia and the PCC. Whether we have been inspired by the YouTube services or the fellowship gained through the church service today, may your word, preaching, praise and prayers be a blessing on us for the week ahead.

We thank you for the witness of our missionary partners The Sibthorpes working with MAF in Northern Australia, the Maderios' training with the CMS in Brazil, and for the work of SAT-7 sharing your word in the Middle East.

Help us to be inspired and witness to the faith we have received, may we know and understand your scripture to help live out our faith without fear of rejection knowing that you are our guide, strength and shield.

We pray for our local community, the work of Swindon Youth for Christ, Swindon Food Collective and the support our Church provides.

We pray for the residents of our parish, our local schools and all those we interact with in.

Lord in you mercy, Hear our prayer.

Almighty and merciful God,

whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own; look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, hunger and oppressive regimes.

Bless those who work to bring them relief; inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts; and guide the nations of the world through their leaders and Governments.

We especially pray for those leaders at the G7 Summit next week working on issues such as vaccine rollout in developing countries, climate change and fairer trade - may this lead towards that day when all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice, and of peace.

Lord in you mercy, Hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus, you are the master of life and death.  Just one touch from you restores the sick, heals the broken, and transforms the darkness.

Only you can do this

Only you

So we ask that you would be with those in our fellowship and those known to us personally right now who need your healing  [PAUSE]

May they sense your presence,

May they feel your power,

May they know your love,

May their body be overwhelmed with light and truth,

With healing and wellness,

Just as it was in the beginning, As you first intended us to be, May they be restored.

Lord in you mercy, Hear our prayer.

According to your promises, bring us with all your saints to share in the benefits of Christ’s death and resurrection. Fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen

Breathe your Holy Spirit upon us and grant us peace so that we are inwardly renewed day by day.

Merciful Father

Accept these prayers

For the sake of your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ.  Amen.
